Guerrilla Altruism: A Mini-Manual of Subversive Action

At Temple University Japan, we are collaborating with our students to explore how altruism shapes place and how empathetic community development can be practiced through design. From Hiroshima’s ship that climbs up a mountain to Jane Jacobs vs. Robert Moses, Guerrilla Altruism examines the tension between power, care, and everyday urban life. Through Japanese empathetic design exercises, students investigate how community projects and trust-building can be integrated into real placemaking. Please follow our community-based projects, methodologies, and a series of small but meaningful acts of co-creation and urban kindness.
